          &#xD;

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           The Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that Board Chair Gloria Martinez has been appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom to the 31st District Agricultural Association, Ventura County Fair Board. The appointment was officially announced by the Governor’s Office on July 25, 2025.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Martinez currently serves as the Economic Vitality Manager for the County of Ventura and brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in economic development, nonprofit management, and public affairs. Since making Santa Paula her home in 2020, Martinez has become an active and engaged community leader, bringing her background in economic development and small business support to initiatives that strengthen the local economy and promote inclusive economic opportunities.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           “The Ventura County Fair is a beloved tradition and an economic engine and cultural cornerstone for our region,” said Martinez. “I’m honored to join the Fair Board and look forward to helping steward this treasured institution.”

Her appointment to the Fair Board underscores her ongoing commitment to Ventura County’s prosperity and community well-being.

           1. Be ruthless, but thoughtful, about hiring

           I worked at a company where closing a deal required six levels of approval. Six. Levels. Of. Approval. That's not process — it's pure

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;a href="https://www.entrepreneur.com/growing-a-business/4-ways-to-avoid-bureaucracy-as-you-scale/435092" target="_blank"&gt;&#xD;
      
           bureaucracy
          &#xD;

            and pain. As you grow, be intentional. Every hire should have a clear purpose and deliver real value. If you can't answer these questions in a positive manner:

    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            How does it help us grow?
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Is it really a full-time position?
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/li&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;li&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            Would it be better to outsource it than keep it in-house?
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           …then don't hire. You're building a team, not a padded org chart.

           2. Make the call at 51%
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           You don't need 100% certainty to act. You don't even need 60%. If you're 51% sure — leaning ever so slightly toward one direction — that's enough. It has to be. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

         The Economic Development Collaborative will work with CMTC’s California’s Manufacturing Network to assist California manufacturers survive, recover, and thrive throughout the ongoing pandemic and beyond.

          CAMARILLO, Calif. – The Economic Development Collaborative (EDC) is pleased to announce a partnership with CMTC’s California’s Manufacturing Network to provide direct support to manufacturers negatively impacted by COVID-19.
         &#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    
           
         &#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    
          With the pandemic dramatically redefining the landscape for California manufacturers, the EDC will work with CMTC and other members of the Network to help businesses survive, recover, and thrive as they navigate through the challenges brought on by the crisis.
         &#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    
           
         &#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;

          “We recognize that manufacturers in our community are in need of support and we want to ensure they have access to the services and programs they need to sustain their operations now and in the future,” said EDC President and CEO Bruce Stenslie.

  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;div&gt;&#xD;
    
           
         &#xD;

          The EDC is providing resources and services at no cost to businesses such as: assistance locating sources of capital and local/state incentives; permitting and site selection assistance; information regarding workforce development programs; and technical assistance through California’s Manufacturers Accelerator program. The goal is to meet with manufacturers throughout the region to identify and understand their specific needs, challenges, opportunities, and provide them with assistance for recovery and growth.

          “This partnership between the EDC and CMTC is enormously important for the region’s economic recovery, as Ventura and Santa Barbara County’s manufacturing, including biotech and related sectors, comprises more than 20 percent of the region’s economy,” stated Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin. “Strengthening the region’s manufacturing supports our highest paying jobs and brings wealth back to the entire community through its sales of high value products across the globe.”
